Job description

About

Step into this Climate and Sustainability Consultant role and build something that matters in AgriTech.

Farms are under pressure to cut emissions, prove compliance and still turn a profit, and the data to do that properly is only just catching up with the ambition. This AgriTech startup builds the tools that make it possible, and it's grown fast enough that its next Climate and Sustainability Consultant will shape how the product actually gets used in the field, not just how it's pitched in a deck. Based in Sheffield, the team is small enough that your work won't disappear into a committee.

Here's what you'll be doing:

Assess the carbon footprint and environmental impact of agricultural operations for clients, using primary data wherever possible

Translate raw farm data into sustainability metrics that actually mean something to growers and buyers alike

Build and refine emissions models specific to crop and livestock systems, adjusting them as new data comes in

Advise clients on practical decarbonisation and land-use strategies they can realistically implement, not just aspire to

Track UK and EU environmental regulation as it applies to agriculture, and flag what it means for the product roadmap

Write client-facing reports and present findings clearly, including to people who aren't sustainability specialists

Here are the skills you'll need:

A degree in environmental science, agriculture, sustainability or a related field, plus a few years working in a similar consultant role

Solid grasp of carbon accounting methodologies (GHG Protocol, LCA approaches) and how they apply to farming systems

Comfortable with data analysis tools. Excel is the baseline; Python or R is a bonus, not a requirement

Genuine interest in AgriTech and where UK agriculture is heading over the next decade

Able to explain technical findings to non-technical audiences without dumbing them down

Self-directed. You'll need to manage your own workload in a small team where priorities shift quickly

Key perks and benefits:

£30,000 to £45,500, depending on experience

Equity in the business, because everyone here has a stake in it working

Hybrid working from the Sheffield office, with genuine flexibility on hours

A learning and development budget you're actually expected to use

Flat structure. You'll have direct access to founders and real input into decisions

Why pursue a career in AgriTech?

AgriTech is one of the few sectors where sustainability isn't a side project bolted onto marketing. It's the whole point. Demand for climate expertise in farming is only going one way, and a Climate and Sustainability Consultant who understands both the science and the commercial pressure on growers will always find work. Sheffield has quietly become a serious base for this kind of company, close to the Peak District and the farming communities the sector actually serves.
