Job description

About

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, skilled, approachable and motivated Consultant to join the CYPMH division within the Trust to help in managing the care of children and young people living within the north central London. This is an excellent opportunity for a Consultant who would like to work and develop a well-functioning team that addresses the needs of young people with emotional and behavioural problems with learning disabilities and their families/carers living in the borough of Enfield. The Consultant will work with a skilled and well-functioning MDT and will be supported by the wider Enfield CYPMHS team. We are looking for a consultant who is either on the specialist register or working towards a specialist registration either in Child & Adolescent or intellectual disability.

The post has arisen as a senior post holder has moved from this position. The postholder will be working with a caseload of young people who require medical reviews and monitoring and offer consultation to the wider MDT.

The Consultant appointed to the post will be encouraged to develop their own interests and pursue research interest in collaboration with the child and adolescent mental health research unit based at University College London CAMHS research unit led by Professor Argyris Stringaris. The consultant will be encouraged to participate in various QI projects across CYPMH services and will also be encouraged to come up with new QI projects as identified. The consultant can also participate in teaching medical students and psychiatry trainees as well.

North London NHS Foundation Trust (NLFT) is committed to improving mental health care across North London to deliver excellent services to our local people.

Our Five-Year Strategy:

We will provide consistently high-quality care closer to home.

With our partners in North London and each borough we will ensure equity of outcome for all

We will offer great places to work, providing staff with supportive environment to deliver outstanding care.

We will be more effective as an organisation by pioneering research, quality improvement and technology.

The Trust is embarking on an ambitious transformation of services within CYPMHS using THRIVE principles and the candidates would be encouraged to develop and contribute towards these changes in order to deliver an effective and compassionate service to the young people living across the five boroughs.

All new consultants will be provided with mentoring by experienced consultants to help develop in the role as medical leaders. The consultant will be invited to be part of the local Consultant CPD/Peer support group. We are willing to consider applicants who want a split post or want to apply to either of the roles as part-time consultants.
