THIS ISN’T YOUR TYPICAL SUPPORT WORKER ROLE…

We’re looking for a confident, engaging and reliable Support Worker to support a young adult living independently in the Reading area.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working alongside people and helping them get the most out of life.

The young adult you’ll be supporting has autism and a mental health condition, but is independent, active and enjoys living life to the fullest. This role is about providing the right level of support, encouragement and companionship while helping them maintain their independence and continue doing the things they enjoy.

You’ll be joining them in everyday activities, helping with plans and routines, providing reassurance when needed and being a consistent, positive presence.

WHAT MIGHT YOUR DAY LOOK LIKE?

No two shifts will necessarily be the same.

You could be:

Supporting the young adult with community activities and days out.

Accompanying them to appointments, activities or social opportunities.

Helping them maintain routines and independence.

Providing reassurance and emotional support when needed.

Supporting with practical day-to-day tasks.

Encouraging healthy routines and positive wellbeing.

Helping them pursue hobbies, interests and activities they enjoy.

Supporting them to access the local community.

Working alongside other professionals and support networks.

Providing overnight support during sleep-in shifts.

Maintaining appropriate professional boundaries while building a positive working relationship.
