Job description
- About
Are you an Occupational Therapist looking to develop your rehabilitation skills while helping people regain independence and work towards goals that matter to them? Join our inpatient rehabilitation service at Athlone Rehabilitation Unit, with some cross-cover to Alexandra Rehab Unit.
Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will provide evidence-based occupational therapy assessments and treatment for people with a range of rehabilitation needs. You will plan, deliver and evaluate individual and group interventions, helping people work towards goals that matter to them across self-care, productivity and leisure.
You will work alongside senior Occupational Therapists and the wider rehabilitation team, with opportunities to build your clinical practice through supervision, preceptorship, continuing professional development, training and quality improvement.
We welcome applications from Occupational Therapists who are committed to person-centred, inclusive practice and interested in developing their skills within rehabilitation
As a Band 5 Occupational Therapist, you will:
• Plan and deliver occupational therapy assessments and interventions for a designated caseload, prioritising clinical needs.
• Assess occupational performance and develop person-centred intervention plans that support independence in self-care, productivity and leisure.
• Plan, deliver and evaluate individual and group rehabilitation programmes, adapting interventions in response to progress and need.
• Assess home environments and recommend appropriate assistive technology, equipment or environmental modifications to support independence and safe discharge.
• Undertake non-complex moving and handling assessments and support people and carers to use prescribed equipment safely.
• Work collaboratively with people, carers, the multidisciplinary team and external agencies, contributing to care planning and discharge.
• Contribute to supervision, delegation, student and staff learning, audit, clinical governance and quality improvement.
• Maintain professional standards and CPD, participate in the preceptorship programme, weekend therapy roster and cross-cover at the other rehabilitation unit as required.
A Diploma/Degree in Occupational Therapy and Health and Care Professions Council registration are essential
