KITCHEN PORTER

London | £14.80 per hour | Monday to Friday | 6:30 am - 3 pm

Houston & Hawkes is looking for a reliable, exceptionally organised Kitchen Porter to join our team at a prestigious corporate workplace in London. This is an important, hands-on role in a busy, quality-led kitchen where efficiency, attention to detail and teamwork make all the difference.

You will be the person who helps keep the kitchen running seamlessly - from taking ownership of deliveries and stock organisation to ensuring that equipment, utensils and work areas are clean, safe and ready for service. WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

Receive, check and organise deliveries, ensuring goods are handled promptly, accurately and safely.

Check deliveries against orders, flag shortages or discrepancies and communicate clearly with the chef team.

Label, date, rotate and store stock correctly, keeping dry stores, fridges and storage areas exceptionally tidy and organised.

Manage the wash-up area efficiently, cleaning pots, pans, trays, utensils, crockery and kitchen equipment to a high standard.

Keep kitchen floors, surfaces, equipment, bins and back-of-house areas clean, hygienic and safe throughout the day.

Support chefs with basic kitchen tasks and preparation when required.

Assist with waste management, recycling, stock movement and maintaining clear, safe working areas.

Follow food safety, allergen, COSHH and health and safety procedures, including cleaning schedules and daily checks.

Work proactively with the wider kitchen team to anticipate busy periods and keep service running smoothly.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Excellent organisation skills — you enjoy creating order, keeping track of deliveries and maintaining immaculate storage areas.

A dependable, punctual and proactive approach, with the ability to prioritise tasks independently.

Previous kitchen porter, kitchen assistant, stores or catering experience is helpful, although attitude and reliability are equally important.

An understanding of hygiene and food safety, or a willingness to learn through training.

A positive team player who takes pride in high standards, even during busy periods.
