Houston & Hawkes is seeking an experienced, passionate Barista to join our team at a stylish, contemporary corporate workplace at 1 Soho Place, London. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who takes real pride in coffee craftsmanship and enjoys delivering thoughtful, personal service in a premium environment.

Our coffee bar is a lively and popular part of the workplace, equipped with excellent professional coffee machines and serving customers throughout the day. We are looking for a confident Barista who can maintain outstanding quality at pace, create a welcoming atmosphere and make every coffee worth coming back for.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

Prepare and serve consistently excellent espresso-based drinks, including flat whites, cappuccinos, lattes and speciality coffees, with care and precision.

Operate and look after high-quality professional espresso machines and grinders, ensuring excellent extraction, milk texture and presentation.

Confidently manage a busy coffee bar during peak periods, maintaining speed, accuracy and friendly, attentive service.

Welcome customers, remember regular preferences and create a warm, engaging coffee experience.

Maintain impeccable coffee bar presentation, including clean counters, organised equipment and attractive displays.

Monitor coffee, milk, cups and other supplies, replenishing stock and highlighting requirements before they affect service.

Carry out daily machine cleaning, backflushing and routine equipment care in accordance with procedures.

Support the wider front-of-house team with customer service and hospitality refreshments when required.

Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure smooth service and a consistently positive guest experience.

Follow food hygiene, allergen awareness and health and safety procedures, including careful handling of alternative milks.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Proven barista experience in a busy, quality-focused coffee bar, café or premium hospitality environment.

Confidence using professional espresso machines and grinders, with a sound understanding of espresso preparation and milk texturing.

A genuine passion for coffee, flavour, consistency and beautifully presented drinks; latte art skills would be an advantage.

Excellent organisation and the ability to remain calm, accurate and personable during high-volume service.

A polished, friendly approach with strong communication skills and pride in creating lasting customer relationships.

A reliable, proactive team player who enjoys learning, sharing knowledge and maintaining exceptional standards.
