Community Support Adviser | Solihull | 28 hours per week, flexible working pattern, with Friday working preferred | £18,666 to £19,490 per annum for 28 hours per week (full time equivalent salary £23,333 to £24,362 per annum) | Fixed term until 31 March 2027

A dementia diagnosis can bring lots of questions and uncertainty, both for the person diagnosed and the people close to them. Having someone who takes the time to listen, understands what matters and helps people find the right information and support can make a real difference.

As a Community Support Adviser, you will be there for people affected by dementia across Solihull. You will listen to what is important to them, help them understand their options and connect them with information, services and support that can help.

This is a varied, community focused role. You might spend your day visiting someone in their home, talking with a carer, connecting with local services or other professionals, or supporting community activities such as Singing for the Brain. While some of your administration and record keeping can be completed from home, this is not primarily a home based role. You will regularly be out in the community meeting and supporting people across Solihull.

Being able to travel independently and reliably across Solihull is important. Travelling between different parts of the borough can be difficult using public transport, particularly between north and south Solihull. Access to your own vehicle would be helpful, although it is not essential if you have another reliable way of travelling across the area.

Your experience might come from care or health, teaching, community work or another people focused role. You may also have gained relevant skills through your own lived experience. What matters is that you can listen well, communicate with empathy and build trusting relationships with people from different backgrounds.

There will be plenty to learn. You will develop your understanding of local services and the wider social care system so that you can help people affected by dementia find their way through the different support available. You do not need to arrive knowing everything. Being curious, open to learning and able to pick up new information will be important.
