About

About the role:

This is an exciting opportunity to lead Powys County Council’s preparations for three major events in 2027: the Tour de France, National Eisteddfod and International Six Days Enduro. You will bring together Council services, event organisers and partner agencies to coordinate highways, transport, parking, waste, recycling and public facilities, helping ensure each event is safe, well planned and delivers a positive experience for communities, businesses and visitors across Powys.

About you:

Excellent project management and organisational skills, with experience of coordinating complex programmes involving multiple partners and competing priorities.

Strong communication, negotiation and stakeholder-management skills, including confidence working with senior leaders, elected members and operational teams.

Sound judgement, problem-solving ability and the resilience to remain calm and effective in a fast-moving environment.

The ability to manage risks, analyse complex information and turn it into practical plans, reports and briefings.

A collaborative and diplomatic approach, with the ability to build trusted relationships across different organisations.

A passion for delivering memorable, well-managed events that support local communities and create a positive experience for residents, businesses and visitors

What you will do:

Lead and coordinate the Council’s preparations for the Tour de France, National Eisteddfod and International Six Days Enduro in 2027.

Act as the Council’s lead officer and principal contact for event organisers, partner agencies and stakeholders.

Coordinate traffic management, road closures, diversions, parking, public transport and visitor-management arrangements.

Coordinate waste, recycling, litter collection, street cleansing, public toilets and welfare facilities before, during and after events.

Prepare management plans, impact assessments, reports and briefings, and represent the Council at strategic, tactical and operational meetings.

Monitor progress, manage risks, resolve issues and lead post-event evaluation so lessons inform future event planning.
