Location: University Campus

Pay Rate: £16.00 per hour PAYE (inclusive of holiday pay)

Contract: Temporary Ongoing Assignment

Hours: Full-Time, Monday to Friday

About the RoleWe are currently recruiting for a General Maintenance Operative to join the Estates and Facilities team at a prestigious university campus. This is an ongoing temporary position offering stable work within a professional and friendly environment.The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring campus buildings, student facilities, and communal areas are maintained to a high standard, helping to provide a safe and welcoming environment for staff, students, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

• Carrying out general building maintenance and repairs.
• Basic plumbing, carpentry, decorating, and maintenance person tasks.
• Replacing fixtures and fittings as required.
• Conducting routine inspections and reporting defects.
• Assisting with office moves and furniture setup.
• Performing minor painting and maintenance works.
• Ensuring all work is completed safely and in line with health and safety procedures.
• Supporting the wider Estates team with planned and reactive maintenance activities.

Requirements

• Previous experience within a maintenance, facilities, caretaking, or handyman role.
• Basic knowledge of building maintenance disciplines.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good problem-solving skills and a proactive approach.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Awareness of health and safety practices.
