About

Skills Adviser - Skills Futures

The Local Growth Fund (Wales) is a 3 year programme (2026–2029) supporting economic development across Wales through investment in businesses, skills, and infrastructure.

Priority 2 of the Local Growth Fund places a strong emphasis on employment and skills, supporting people to access and progress in good-quality work, addressing skills gaps, and strengthening the link between local training provision and employer demand. Alongside boosting productivity and business growth, it aims to create higher-quality jobs and support inclusive growth, particularly in areas facing economic and geographic challenges.

The role

Futureworks is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Skills Adviser to play a key role in delivering the Skills Futures project. The initiative supports individuals who are out of work or economically inactive, with a focus on strengthening pathways into sustainable employment by improving access to good-quality work, addressing local and regional skills gaps, and strengthening links between training provision and employer demand.

The successful candidate will play a central role in connecting participants with meaningful job and work experience opportunities, helping them build confidence, develop relevant skills, and progress into employment. The role focuses on enhancing work placement provision, supporting employability development, and building strong partnerships that respond to labour market needs.

Job role

The role will support people to gain the confidence, qualifications, and work-ready skills needed to access and progress in good-quality employment. The project also works closely with employers to ensure training provision responds to local and regional workforce needs, helping address skills shortages across key sectors.

The successful candidates will play a key role in delivering high-quality vocational training and employability support to adults of all ages. The role focuses on supporting participants to overcome barriers to employment, improve essential and sector-specific skills, and progress into work, further learning, or vocational pathways.
