Job Title: PMLD Teaching Assistant

Location: Rhondda Cynon Taf

Start Date: Immediate Start

Salary: £92 - £95 per day

Do you have experience supporting children and young people with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD)?

Are you confident supporting pupils with complex physical and medical needs, including PEG feeding, manual handling and personal care?

Are you a patient, caring and enthusiastic PMLD Teaching Assistant with experience using eye gaze technology to support communication and learning?

TeacherActive is proud to be working with a specialist ALN school based in Rhondda Cynon Taf (RCT), supporting children and young people aged 3 to 19 with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) and complex additional learning needs. The school focuses on providing a supportive and inclusive learning environment, helping pupils develop their communication, engagement and independence through personalised learning and specialist support.

The school is looking to appoint a dedicated PMLD Teaching Assistant on a full-time, long-term supply basis, starting immediately. The successful PMLD Teaching Assistant will support pupils with complex learning, physical and medical needs, assisting with PEG feeding, safe manual handling and personal care in line with individual care plans and appropriate training, while using eye gaze technology and alternative communication methods to encourage pupil participation and development.

The successful PMLD Teaching Assistant will have:

•

A relevant Teaching Assistant qualification or training in Additional Learning Needs / ALN (desirable)

•

Experience supporting children and young people with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties / PMLD

•

Experience or relevant training in PEG feeding, manual handling and supporting pupils with complex medical and physical needs

•

Knowledge or experience of using eye gaze technology, assistive communication devices or alternative communication methods

•

An understanding of safeguarding, personal care and the importance of maintaining pupils' dignity and wellbeing

•

A patient, compassionate and adaptable approach with strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
