Lead Gas Technician£43,000 - £47,000 + Company Vehicle + Overtime + Excellent BenefitsReady to take the next step in your gas engineering career?Workchain is proud to be supporting a well-established and highly respected gas services business in the area, as they look to appoint a Lead Gas Technician to their growing team.This newly created position offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced domestic gas breakdown engineer to progress into a senior technical role that combines hands-on engineering with coaching, quality assurance, and technical leadership.Perfect for someone who enjoys diagnosing complex faults and helping others develop, the role provides the opportunity to work closely with the Field Service Manager to support engineering standards, customer satisfaction, and operational excellence, while still remaining actively involved in field-based engineering work.The RoleThis position has been created to provide additional technical support to the Field Service Manager while maintaining a strong on-the-tools presence.You'll split your week between:3 days per week carrying out diagnostic and breakdown repairs within your normal engineering patch2 days per week supporting the Field Service Manager with technical support, quality assurance and engineer coaching activities.Key ResponsibilitiesConduct field-based technical and quality audits across the engineering teamInvestigate customer complaints, identify root causes and help achieve positive resolutionsProvide hands-on technical support to engineers in the fieldDeliver coaching, mentoring and practical guidance to improve engineer performanceIdentify training and development requirements within the teamSupport the ongoing maintenance of high standards in workmanship, compliance and customer serviceAssist the Field Service Manager in driving quality, productivity and technical excellenceWhat We're Looking ForWe're seeking an experienced domestic gas breakdown engineer with exceptional diagnostic and fault-finding ability who is ready to move into a more senior technical position.To be successful, you'll need experience gained within a structured gas service and repair environment where quality standards, technical auditing and engineer performance management are an integral part of the operation.You may already have experience in a senior technical, technical support or supervisory role, but we're also interested in speaking with engineers who have been exposed to robust auditing, coaching and performance management processes and are ready for their next challenge.Essential ExperienceCurrent ACS Domestic Gas QualificationsSignificant experience as a domestic gas service and breakdown engineerAdvanced diagnostic and fault-finding skillsExperience working within a larger, structured gas service and repair organisationStrong understanding of technical compliance and quality standardsAbility to coach, support and influence fellow engineersExcellent communication and problem-solving skillsA proactive approach to maintaining high levels of customer service and workmanshipFull UK Driving LicenceYou'll Stand Out If You HavePrevious experience conducting technical auditsExperience mentoring or coaching engineersExposure to engineer performance management processesSenior engineer, technical specialist or team leader experienceWhat's on Offer?Salary of £43,000 - £47,000, depending on experienceCompany vehicleOvertime opportunitiesExcellent company benefits packageA genuine career progression opportunityThe chance to influence standards, quality and engineer development across the businessA role that offers the perfect balance between technical leadership and hands-on engineering
