A forward-thinking public sector organisation looking to recruit an experienced Building Surveyor on an initial 6-month contract. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in the delivery of planned and preventative maintenance programmes across a diverse commercial and civic property portfolio.

The organisation manages a varied estate that includes offices, retail units, industrial properties, theatres and civic buildings. Working closely with the Estates Manager, you will support the development and delivery of maintenance programmes, helping to ensure budgets are effectively managed and projects are delivered to the required quality, cost and timescale standards.

Your new role

As Building Surveyor, you will be responsible for:

  • Delivering planned and preventative maintenance programmes across the estate.
  • Undertaking condition surveys and identifying maintenance requirements.
  • Assisting with budget monitoring, expenditure tracking and programme planning.
  • Managing contractors and monitoring the quality of works on site.
  • Ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with agreed specifications.
  • Working closely with internal stakeholders to prioritise maintenance needs and investment requirements.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Previous experience as a Building Surveyor within a public sector, commercial property or mixed-use estate environment.
  • Strong knowledge of planned maintenance and asset management principles.
  • Experience undertaking condition surveys and producing maintenance recommendations.
  • The ability to monitor budgets and support financial planning for maintenance programmes.
  • Experience managing contractors and overseeing the delivery of building works on site.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.

What you'll get in return

  • Initial 6-month contract with the potential for extension.
  • Flexible working arrangements.
  • Opportunities available on either a full-time basis or 3-4 days per week.
  • A varied portfolio of commercial and civic properties.
  • Hybrid working with an expectation of regular site presence throughout the week and the opportunity to work from home approximately one day per week.
