6 Hours per Week | £14.67 per Hour | Northumberland

A friendly, reliable and supportive Personal Assistant is required to provide practical and motivational support to a young man in his late twenties living in Northumberland.

The individual has a great sense of humour and enjoys mending cars, loves dogs (he has three), going out for coffee and spending time in the community. He has ADHD, autistic traits, dyslexia and well-managed psychosis. The role is focused on providing practical assistance, encouragement, motivation and structure while promoting confidence, independence and wellbeing.

About the Role

You will provide practical support with everyday tasks while helping the individual develop routines, stay organised and maintain his independence.

Support may include:

- Dog walking and support with training the dogs;

- Household organisation and routines;

- Assistance with paperwork and administration;

- Reminders for recycling and rubbish;

- Medication ordering prompts;

- Support with planning and organising activities;

- Encouragement and motivation with everyday household tasks;

- Support with social and leisure activities;

- Helping to build confidence and independence within the community.

You will work alongside the individual to discuss ideas, identify achievable goals and develop practical routines that work for him.

Hours

6 hours per week, usually divided into three visits of approximately 2 hours each.

The days and times can be flexible and agreed to suit both the individual and the successful applicant. Weekday afternoons, Monday to Friday, are preferred.

Rate of Pay

£14.67 per hour

Essential Criteria

The successful applicant will be:

- A good listener with strong communication skills;

- Practical, organised and able to provide clear guidance;

- Understanding of ADHD and/or autism;

- Comfortable providing support independently at home and within the community;

- Aware of safeguarding responsibilities;

- Committed to promoting independence rather than creating dependence;

- Able to work collaboratively and respectfully.

Previous experience in a support, care or Personal Assistant role would be beneficial. An understanding of ADHD, autism dyslexia and mental health would also be advantageous.

Driving

A driving licence is preferred, and access to your own vehicle would be beneficial for supporting community activities. Client has their own car.
