- Sunderland City Council has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced manager to join the Customer Enabling Service management team to lead and manage the payroll and pensions function within the Smart Cities andamp; Enabling Services Directorate.

This is a post which will be of interest to applicants who have a proven track record and substantial experience of successfully establishing and managing multifunctional teams, services, or projects and delivering these to a high standard.

The service is designed as a centralised service to deliver economies of scale. The post holder will be part of a management team with the ability to demonstrate commitment and flexibility by supporting a diverse range of business support functions. The applicant should possess excellent communication skills in order to deal with members of the public, colleagues, members of staff at all levels, Councillors, and external partners.

The post holder will predominantly be responsible for leading and developing a team of Customer Enabling Assistants and Officers in the transactional payroll and pensions team, ensuring we continue to achieve organisational resilience and a high level of service responsiveness, in recognition of the ever-changing needs of the organisation. Having public sector payroll/pension experience is required, including a wide range of transferable experience within an appropriate background as well as having strong people skills.

The post holder will be a results-driven individual who will contribute towards the successful delivery of the Customer Enabling Service, a service established to manage the front door for the Council including the telephony service and the internal administrative and transactional back-office service, driving the Councilandrsquo;s vision and priorities for improved ways of working as well as supporting and shaping future activity based on insight and evidence.

This post is pivotal in delivering efficient, effective and customer focused transactional payroll and pension services in a fast-paced environment, operating across a large organisation.
