Farm Sprayer Operator & Foreman
Farm Sprayer Operator & Foreman - Kent - £30,000-£45,000 + Overtime + Accommodation
The Job:
We are recruiting for an experienced Farm Sprayer Operator & Foreman to join a specialist farming business in Kent, working across hop production and other commercial crops.
This is a varied, hands on position combining crop spraying, tractor operation, machinery maintenance and staff supervision. Working alongside the Farm Manager, you will help organise daily farm activities, oversee crop protection and ensure machinery and equipment are ready for the demands of the farming season.
The role would suit a confident agricultural operator who enjoys practical work, has strong mechanical skills and is comfortable taking responsibility for day-to-day farm operations. PA1 and PA2 qualifications are essential. Previous boom spraying experience is highly desirable, although training may be available for the right candidate who is willing to gain the relevant additional qualification.
Key Responsibilities::
- Carry out crop spraying and crop protection operations safely, maintaining accurate application records and meeting relevant regulatory requirements
- Operate tractors, sprayers and specialist agricultural machinery across the farm
- Follow the seasonal work programme, coordinating daily activities with the Farm Manager
- Support crop production activities, including cultivation, hop growing, harvesting and associated seasonal work
- Supervise permanent staff and coordinate additional workers during busy periods
- Carry out machinery servicing, fault-finding and repairs to minimise downtime
- Maintain farm equipment, buildings, fencing and other infrastructure
- Assist with harvest planning, machinery preparation and processing operations
- Monitor work standards, promote safe working practices and report progress or issues to management.
The Company:
An established agricultural business specialising in commercial hop production alongside other farming activities. The operation uses specialist machinery and places importance on crop quality, efficient farm management and maintaining high standards throughout the growing and harvesting seasons.
The Candidate
- Strong practical experience in commercial agriculture, ideally within hop production, top fruit or arable farming.
- PA1 and PA2 qualifications are essential, with previous boom spraying experience or PA3 certification highly advantageous. Candidates must be willing to undertake further training if required.
- Confident operating tractors, agricultural sprayers and other farm machinery, with a good understanding of crop protection.
- Mechanically minded, with the ability to carry out routine servicing, diagnose faults and undertake practical repairs.
- Previous experience supervising staff, allocating work or coordinating daily farm operations.
- Organised and dependable, with good communication skills and the confidence to work independently while keeping management informed.
- Full UK driving licence and own transport, with flexibility to work additional hours during busy seasonal periods.
- Experience with specialist harvesting equipment, telehandlers, welding or fabrication would be beneficial.
The Package
- Salary £30,000–£45,000 basic salary DOE
- Additional overtime available, with the potential for total earnings to exceed £55,000 during busy periods, depending on hours worked.
- Standard working hours of 7am-4pm, Monday to Friday, with additional flexibility during harvest.
- Accommodation potentially available on site, subject to agreement.
- Company pension and holiday entitlement.
- Free on-site parking.
- Varied role combining spraying, machinery, crop production and staff supervision.
- Opportunity to take on responsibility within a specialist farming operation.
