Learn about the role, responsibilities and what the employer is looking for.
We are seeking an experienced and committed Senior Pastoral & Inclusion Coordinator to join Durham Gateway, our 14–16 Alternative Provision setting. This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about supporting young people, improving attendance, engagement and
behaviour, and removing barriers to learning and achievement.
This is a key outward-facing role, requiring effective communication and partnership working with parents and carers, referring schools, social care, local authorities and external agencies.
You will lead and coordinate pastoral and inclusion support, oversee personalised learnersupport and behaviour strategies, and work proactively with families and partner agencies to address barriers, improve engagement and achieve positive outcomes for young people. You
will also deputise for the Head of Durham Gateway, providing day-to-day operational leadership and oversight when required.
As Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead, you will work closely with the Designated Safeguarding Lead to respond to safeguarding concerns, coordinate referrals, promote best practice and maintain robust safeguarding procedures across the provision.
We are looking for a calm, resilient and empathetic professional with excellent communication, relationship-building and behaviour management skills, alongside experience supporting vulnerable young people with complex needs. If you are committed to making a
meaningful difference to young people's lives and helping them achieve their potential, we would love to hear from you.
