Job summary
To be responsible to drive income for our new venture, the hospice coffee cart. This will involve selling beverages and wrapped snacks to the general public. You will work independently, with support from volunteers and the fundraising team/other colleagues to effectively deliver targets set by the Head of Business Development.
The coffee cart will be mobile for events and activities within the community, to raise awareness of our services and generate funding to support the care we provide to the people of South Yorkshire.
Main duties of the job
Up keep of Coffee Cart.
Stock control of coffee cart, ordering of supplies.
Reporting and escalating Health and Safety issues affecting operational duties.

Barnsley Hospice is a charity that provides specialist palliative and end of life care to hundreds of local people and those close to them each year. Our main priority is to achieve the best possible quality of life for people living with a life- limiting illness, whilst supporting those close to them during the period of illness and bereavement. As a specialist care provider, the range of skills we offer include, pain and symptom management, emotional support and end of life care. The hospice currently employs about 100 people and has a team of volunteers, based both at the hospice and within our Retail Hub.

Job responsibilities
Prepare coffee, tea, and other beverages that provide uplifting moments for our customers.
Have a great attention to detail, and aim to secure repeat customers through serving excellent coffee and running initiatives.
Ensuring Health and Safety hazards, issues, near misses and accidents are reported using the appropriate reporting procedures at the earliest opportunity.
Greet, prepare and take customers orders for beverages in a friendly, courteous, professional, and timely manner to ensure customers satisfaction and that they walk away happy and excited about their next visit.
Maintains inventories by replenishing coffee bean supply and other consumables.
Complete all Food Safety and Health & Safety paperwork correctly when required.
Knowledgeable and practises food safety codes and governing standards, including allergens.
Production of high-quality hand-crafted beverages.
Comfortable with driving a single axle small trailer behind a works vehicle if needed.
Familiarise self with menu and prices and is able to educates customers by presenting and explaining the menu.
Flexible working as necessary.
Able to signpost for more advice.
Maintain a clean and well organised work area, the cleanliness of all displays, counters and seating areas and follow all food safety and hygiene regulations.
Operating & maintaining coffee making equipment.
Operate a cash register (or equivalent) receiving payments and providing customer service.
Maintain proper security of cash and understand and follow cash-handling policies and procedures.
A hard-working attitude and multi-tasking skills.
General:
Ability to work well under pressure and as part of a team.
Maintain a calm demeanour during high volume periods.
Ability to work shifts inclusive of days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Full driving licence.
Confident driver.
Other:
To undertake any other duties, commensurate with the role as required by the Hospice.
To act as an ambassador of the Hospice, maintaining honesty, integrity and trustworthiness at all times.
The post holder will be expected to maintain strict confidentiality at all times.
The post holder will ensure that they are aware of and apply health and safety and fire precautions.
The post holder will ensure that clinical risk management and safeguarding procedures and relevant good practice guidelines are followed at all times.
The post holder is to ensure data protection is maintained at all times.
The post holder will be flexible in terms of working hours in order to meet service needs.
The post holder will support the Hospice as required, across the range of duties as appropriate within the grading of this post. In the context of rapid and ongoing change within the Hospice, the above responsibilities represent the current priorities and requirements for the post. These priorities will develop and evolve over time. Any significant changes will be the subject of full communication and consultation with the post holder.
