Shape the Network of the Future

Join UK Power Networks and play a leading role in delivering the infrastructure that powers homes, businesses and communities across the South East. This is an opportunity to work on complex, high-value projects, influence designs from concept to construction, and help build a smarter, more sustainable energy network.

Make Your Mark

As a Senior Civil Design Engineer, you'll develop and oversee civil and structural designs for substations, overhead lines and cable projects, ensuring they are safe, compliant, cost-effective and ready for construction. Working closely with Project Managers, Electrical Designers and Principal Design Coordinators, you'll deliver designs that meet CDM 2015 requirements, industry standards and project objectives.

You'll manage technical and procurement documentation, support design assurance activities, coordinate multidisciplinary teams, mentor Graduate and Trainee Engineers, and fulfil Designer and Principal Designer responsibilities where required. You'll also work with customers, contractors, operational teams and CAD specialists to ensure a seamless journey from initial enquiry through to project completion.

Bring Your Expertise

You'll hold a Civil Engineering degree and have strong experience in civil or structural engineering within the utilities sector, including substations, overhead lines and cable infrastructure. You'll be confident approving designs, resolving engineering challenges and working independently to deliver high-quality outcomes. A solid understanding of CDM 2015, IOSH training and AutoCAD knowledge are essential, while Bentley software experience and Chartership (or progress towards it) are advantageous.

Why UK Power Networks?

Alongside a competitive salary, business car and bonus, you'll receive 23 days' holiday plus bank holidays, a generous pension with up to 10% employer contribution, hybrid working, discounted gym membership, retail discounts, health and wellbeing support, cycle-to-work and green car schemes, season ticket and tenancy deposit loans, and an Employee Assistance Programme.

Ready to Apply?

If you're looking for a role where your designs will have a lasting impact on critical infrastructure, we'd love to hear from you.
