Are you a creative, strategic social media professional who knows how to turn great ideas into engaging content?

We're recruiting for a Social Media Manager to join the Marketing, Recruitment and Communications function of a large, high-profile organisation based in Birmingham. This is an exciting opportunity to take the lead on social media strategy, content and audience engagement, helping to strengthen brand awareness and connect with audiences across multiple platforms.

The role

You'll lead the planning and delivery of social media activity, managing the content pipeline and developing engaging, social-first content across a range of channels. From short-form video, reels and TikToks to photography, graphics and copy, you'll ensure content is creative, relevant and tailored to different audiences.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Developing and delivering the organisation's social media strategy.
• Managing and growing social media channels, including content planning, publishing and optimisation.
• Creating high-quality social-first content including short-form video, Reels, TikToks, photography, graphics and copy.
• Managing the social media content calendar and production workflow.
• Leading community management and audience engagement.
• Identifying emerging trends, new formats and opportunities to increase reach and engagement.
• Working with influencers, ambassadors and external content creators where appropriate.
• Managing and developing a social media team and coordinating workloads and priorities.
• Monitoring performance against KPIs, using analytics and audience insights to continually improve results.
• Working closely with marketing, recruitment and communications colleagues to deliver integrated campaigns.

About you

We're looking for someone who combines strategic thinking with hands-on content creation.

You'll ideally have:

• Strong experience managing social media channels and delivering successful social strategies.
• Experience planning multi-platform social campaigns and using data to measure performance.
• Excellent knowledge of social platforms, emerging trends and audience behaviours.
• Hands-on content creation skills, particularly video and platform-specific content.
• Experience managing or leading a team.
• Strong community management skills and confidence in handling sensitive or reputational issues.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong stakeholder management, organisation and project management skills.
• A relevant degree in marketing, communications, digital media or journalism, or equivalent professional experience.
• Experience gained within higher education or another large, complex organisation would be advantageous, as would experience working with influencers, ambassadors or creator programmes.
