Job description

Learn about the role, responsibilities and what the employer is looking for.

As part of Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust, Evelina London is there for children, young people and women from London to South East England and provides specialist care for families around the UK and across the world.

Every year, the number of children and young people Evelina London cares for, in our hospitals and throughout our local community, continues to grow. We support families from pre-conception, before birth, throughout childhood and into adult life.

Right in the heart of vibrant London, we benefit from excellent transport links, we have staff working here from the local areas, spanning across London, and further afield into the home counties.

We strive to recruit and retain staff who are motivated to develop and learn with us as we continually strive to ensure that our services are of the highest quality, safe, and focused on women, children and their families.

Here is a snippet of what our staff say about us, and working here:

“I have learnt what it means to be an outstanding nurse and I would like to contribute further alongside passionate and competent nurses.”

“The coronavirus pandemic made me realise the sheer dedication of my colleagues and their selflessness to put their patients before themselves, showing the level of integrity they all maintain.”

“I see how supportive the team are and how important it is to provide the best quality care for our patients. Knowing there will always be a friendly face supports why I love working at Evelina London.”

We are seeking to recruit an asthma clinical nurse specialist (CNS) who will be working within an integrated neighbourhood model supporting the delivery of a pilot to identify and manage children and young people (CYP) at high risk of asthma exacerbations.

As a Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will act as a lead specialist within paediatric asthma across community and primary care settings, contributing to an integrated neighbourhood team (INT) approach. This includes working collaboratively with GP practices, paediatricians, pharmacists and wider partners to proactively identify, review and manage CYP through population health management and risk stratification approaches.

You will be responsible for contributing to the ongoing development of clinical practice, research and standards of care within the service, including development of policies, protocols and guidelines and contribute to service developments in collaboration with multidisciplinary colleagues. Also ensures the safety and wellbeing of services users and always working in a manner that promotes dignity and human rights through the adoption of person-centred care principles.

You will benefit from excellent support from the existing CNS team and Asthma consultants & we will offer you a comprehensive range of experience and development opportunities.

If you feel you have the skills, enthusiasm and ambition to lead this fantastic team, we would love to hear from you.

At Evelina, we are reminded every day of how important life is, and how important it is to look after the health and wellbeing of our staff as they balance of responsibilities in and out of work.

We are committed to diversity and inclusion, and creating a sense of belonging and fun for all our teams caring for women, children and families; as we continue to develop new and existing partnerships with local people, patients, neighbouring NHS organisations, local authorities and charitable bodies and GPs, we recognise the huge benefit of our workforce being reflective of the diverse communities we serve.

We are committed to supporting the professional development of staff, and have excellent training and educational offerings. Recognising that looking after babies, children and young people is incredibly rewarding, but can also bring challenge we offer amazing resources to help support our staff’s emotional wellbeing and resilience.

If you have what it takes to be an amazing Evelina Nurse, and have the appetite to join a forward thinking, positive environment, where aspiration and innovation are encouraged, we want you to join us.
