This post is for a Social Worker to join our Fostering team to primarily undertake assessments of prospective Foster Carers as well as Special Guardianship carers. This is a fantastic opportunity to support the recruitment of foster carers as well as enabling children to continue to be cared for within their family. There will also be some case holding responsibilities where you will supervise, and support approved foster carers ensuring they have everything they need to be able to care for and support the children residing with them. We are excited to hear from those candidates who have excellent assessment qualities as well as those with an ability to support carers who have children residing with them or where there are plans for them to. This is a really dynamic and varied position where you will get to utilise all of your skills and experience to support with achieving the best outcomes for our children looked after.

The suitable applicant must demonstrate that they meet the requirements for Fostering Supervising Social Worker as described in the Job Description and Person Specification.
You will be responsible for supporting and supervising an enthusiastic group of foster carers, with whom you will be expected to build and develop effective partnerships, in addition to assessing and recruiting new foster carers to Foster Wales.
As a supervising social worker in the Foster Wales Merthyr team, you will be able to set a standard of leadership for the service, fully participate with the services priorities, show initiative, take responsibility and be accountable.
