The role offers exposure to a broad range of chronic pain conditions, access to purpose-built facilities, and opportunities to develop expertise in advanced interventional procedures.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and collaborative clinician with a commitment to excellent patient care, multidisciplinary working and service development. You will play a key role in delivering safe, effective and patient-centred pain services while helping shape the future of pain management within a forward-thinking organisation.

Whether your interests lie in clinical excellence, education, research or service innovation, Imperial offers an outstanding environment in which to develop your career while making a meaningful difference to patients' lives.

As a Locum Consultant in Pain Medicine, you will deliver high-quality outpatient and interventional pain management within a multidisciplinary team, providing safe, effective care for complex chronic pain.

The role encompasses clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and specialist interventions, including image-guided procedures. You will collaborate across disciplines to optimize clinical outcomes, patient experience, and evidence-based practice.

You will actively contribute to clinical governance, audit, quality improvement, and service transformation to enhance care standards and productivity. The postholder will also support education and training through teaching and supervising medical students, junior doctors, and multidisciplinary staff.

Opportunities exist for research and academic collaboration via Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and Imperial College London. You will support operational priorities, including waiting-list management and sustainable pathways.

At Imperial College Healthcare you can achieve extraordinary things with extraordinary people, working with leading clinicians pushing boundaries in patient care.

Become part of a vibrant team living our values - expert, kind, collaborative and aspirational. You’ll get an experience like no other and will fast forward your career.

Benefits include career development, flexible working and wellbeing, staff recognition scheme.  Make use of optional benefits including Cycle to Work, car lease schemes, season ticket loan or membership options for onsite leisure facilities.

We are committed to equal opportunities and improving the working lives of our staff and will consider applications to work flexibly, part time or job share.  Please talk to us at interview.

The role will provide specialist assessment, diagnosis and management for patients with acute and chronic pain conditions, delivering high-quality, evidence-based care within a multidisciplinary Pain Management Service.

The postholder will undertake outpatient clinics and interventional pain procedures, contributing to safe, effective and patient-centred care. Working closely with medical, nursing, therapy and administrative colleagues, they will support the development and delivery of integrated care pathways that improve patient outcomes, experience, access and continuity of care.

The role includes responsibility for clinical decision-making, patient risk management and participation in multidisciplinary team meetings. The successful candidate will contribute to service development, clinical governance, audit, research and quality improvement initiatives, helping to drive innovation, enhance productivity and support continuous service improvement.

The successful candidate will maintain the highest standards of professional practice, support effective multidisciplinary working and contribute to operational objectives relating to quality, productivity, waiting list management, access, efficiency and patient safety. This is an excellent opportunity to join a progressive team committed to clinical excellence, innovation and service transformation and development.
