About

Recruiting two Community Paediatrics Specialty Doctors: 10 PAs each, no on-call/out-of-hours. Based at King’s Mill Hospital, working mainly in community settings across Mansfield, Ashfield, Sherwood and Newark. We assess/manage children and young people with neurodevelopmental conditions, neurodisability, developmental delay and complex health needs. Duties: developmental clinics; autism/ADHD pathways; post-diagnostic follow-up; care coordination; safeguarding and statutory responsibilities.

For paediatricians seeking a Community Paediatrics career or broader experience. We offer a clear job plan, consultant supervision/mentoring and opportunities to develop interests in teaching, safeguarding, neurodevelopment, quality improvement and leadership. We support Specialty Doctor progression and, where appropriate, the Portfolio Pathway.

Join an established multidisciplinary team: Consultant Community Paediatricians, Specialty Doctors, Specialist Registrars, Specialist Nurses and administrators. Embedded Speech and Language Therapy and Sleep Support enhance autism/ADHD pathways and joined-up care. Senior specialist nurses lead school observations, parent information sessions and autonomous ADHD/autism follow-up clinics; doctors collaborate on diagnosis, management, medical oversight and safe escalation. Work with acute paediatrics, specialist services, therapies, primary care, education and social care, providing clear medical advice and coordinating care for children/families.

1. Deliver high-quality prevention, diagnosis and treatment services with consultant colleagues.

2. Develop and lead agreed areas of special interest.

3. Supervise and manage junior medical staff in line with Trust policies.

4. Contribute to teaching, assessment, accreditation and continuing professional development.

5. Undertake appropriate managerial and budgetary responsibilities and comply with Trust financial instructions.

6. Complete agreed Trust work for partner agencies in line with the job plan and 2003 contract.

7. Promote equality and comply with the Trust’s Equal Opportunities Policy.

8. Follow health and safety requirements and maintain a safe environment.

9. Apply infection prevention and control principles and policies.

10. Work to GMC Good Medical Practice and relevant quality standards.

11. Respond promptly to legitimate Trust requests, including incident and complaint investigations.

12. Maintain confidentiality and comply with data protection requirements.

13. Ensure accurate, complete and reliable recording of Trust activity.

14. Comply with all relevant Trust policies and procedures.

15. Meet Freedom of Information requirements in line with Trust policy.

We are an award-winning NHS Foundation Trust working alongside health and social care colleagues across the county to provide acute and community healthcare services to more than 420,000 people across Mansfield, Ashfield, Newark and Sherwood, and parts of Derbyshire and Lincolnshire.

Sherwood is nationally recognised as being an excellent place to work and deliver care. We are rightly proud of the 5,500 colleagues who work here.

We are proud that our Trust colleagues have voted us the best acute Trust to work for in the East Midlands for seven years running in the National NHS Staff Survey, while the Care Quality Commission has rated our Trust as ‘outstanding’ for care and our King’s Mill Hospital as the only ‘outstanding’ NHS-run hospital in the East Midlands.

We know happy colleagues deliver better care. All our teams work in a supportive environment, which nurtures your wellbeing and provides opportunities for development and progression. We do not just care for our patients, we also care for you.

We have an open, inclusive and diverse culture and we would like you to be part of the team.
