Personal Assistant to support a 55-year-old living in the Barry area with a diagnosis of Huntington’s disease. The purpose of the job is to support me at home while my Husband is working and to support me to leave the house when possible. Cover PA only, 16 hours per week when covering. £15 per hour. JOB DESCRIPTION

Personal Assistant

A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF

I am a 55-year-old woman living in the Barry area with my Husband and my cat. I am looking for a PA to help me get out of the house more and engage in more social activities.

I used to get out a lot more and used to attend the gym but need to support to do this now and struggle to get out due to my anxiety of going out since my diagnosis. I am diagnosed with Huntington’s and have been since 2016.

I am in a wheelchair 95% of the time and use a mobility car to go out.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The main purpose of this job is to help support me to get out of the house and engage in the community more. But there will also be an element to be worked in the house and supporting me at home.

HOURS OF WORK

I am looking for a cover PA only. I have 16 hours per week so one week of cover would equate to this.

RATES OF PAY

£15 per hour and double time on bank holidays.

TASKS CAN INCLUDE

• Taking me out into the community to go shopping, to cafes, to the beach or just a short local walk.

• Generally supporting me around the house and ensuring my safety.

TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED

• Someone who is alright working in a home with a cat.

• A driver with business class insurance.

• A flexible person who can work around our schedules.

• A good communicator.

• An understanding person.

• A caring and empathetic person.

• A reliable and punctual person.

• A person who respects the privacy and confidentiality of working in someone else’s home.

ABOUT THE JOB

Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid four weekly and appropriate holiday pay given.

The post is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS (Police) Check - which will need to be carried out before employment can commence. The cost of this will be met by the employer (Local Authority).
