The focus of this post will be to provide psychiatric consultation, assessment and treatment in the Hillingdon LD team. The post holder will be expected to contribute clinical leadership in the development and management of the Learning Disability and neuro developmental disorder pathway within the Service Line. There are senior psychologists and behaviour analysts within the team, contributing to the expertise available for the local population. Close working relationships exist with the Educational and Children with Disability Teams and with the Child Development/Paediatric Services. In Hillingdon, the team work closely with the Child Development Centre (CDC) and the local pathway agreement is that CDC carry out ASD assessments and prescribe for young people with LD who also have ADHD.
The postholder will contribute to the CAMHS OOH consultant rota for CNWL NHS FT.
Central and North West London (CNWL) specialises in caring for people with a wide range of mental and physical health needs and is one of the largest mental health trusts in England. Each CAMHS service has its own local management structure: Hillingdon CAMHS has a Lead Psychiatrist, Therapies lead and team manager who work closely with the outer boroughs service manager. Each sub-team has a psychiatry and therapy lead and they, together with the team and service manager form the local senior management team which meets monthly. The postholder will be part of the SMT. The Hillingdon CAMHS team is well established and staffed by a strong multi-disciplinary team of clinicians. We aim to provide an accessible, flexible and responsive local service for patients and professionals working with children in the area using a range of therapeutic interventions including behaviour, systemic, CBT, IPT-A, DBT, psycho-dynamic and group therapies as well as psychopharmacological approaches. Hillingdon CAMHS is a Tier 3 service, accepting referrals from GPs, paediatrics, schools and Children’s Services. The service has active service user groups for young people and parents.
