Are you passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of children and young people with SEN and SEMH needs?

Do you have the patience, resilience and confidence to build strong relationships with pupils who may find mainstream education challenging?

Are you looking for flexible work or a longer-term opportunity where you can make a genuine impact?

Teacher Active is looking to expand our team of dedicated and reliable SEN / SEMH Teaching Assistants to support schools and education settings across Nottingham and the surrounding areas.

We work with mainstream schools, specialist SEN provisions and alternative education settings, offering a variety of opportunities for Teaching Assistants with experience supporting children and young people with additional needs.

Whether you're looking for flexible day-to-day supply, short-term assignments or a longer-term placement, we have opportunities to suit a range of preferences and availability.

The Role

As an SEN / SEMH Teaching Assistant, you'll play an important role in helping pupils feel safe, supported and engaged in their education.

Depending on the setting and the needs of the pupils, your responsibilities may include:

    • Providing 1:1 support to pupils with additional needs.

    • Supporting small groups and assisting with learning activities in the classroom.

    • Working with pupils with SEMH, ASD, ADHD, communication difficulties and other additional needs.

    • Supporting emotional regulation and helping pupils manage challenging situations.

    • Using positive behaviour management and de-escalation strategies.

    • Building trusting relationships to encourage engagement, confidence and independence.

    • Creating a safe, positive and supportive learning environment.

The Ideal SEN / SEMH Teaching Assistant

The successful candidate will ideally have:

      • Experience supporting children or young people with SEN and/or SEMH needs.

      • Experience working in a school, SEN provision, alternative provision or a similar setting.

      • Confidence supporting pupils whose behaviour may present challenges.

      • A calm, patient, resilient and understanding approach.

      • Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills.

      • The ability to build positive and professional relationships with pupils.

      • An understanding of safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing.

      • Flexibility, reliability and the ability to adapt to different educational settings.

      What We Offer

        • A dedicated team of consultants available 24/7.

        • Access to a variety of SEN, SEMH and mainstream settings across Nottingham and the surrounding areas.

        • Flexible day-to-day supply and longer-term opportunities.

        • CPD courses and certificates through My-Progression.

        • Market-leading rates of pay.
