Job Description
The 48th Contracting Squadron has an opportunity for a developmental Contract Specialist at RAF Lakenheath, UK. The position falls within the Government Purchase Card (GPC) program office, which holds responsibility for the administration and oversight of procurement transactions across three key installations: RAF Lakenheath, RAF Mildenhall, and RAF Feltwell. The program utilizes a commercial credit card to enable authorized personnel across all squadrons to execute mission-related, low-value acquisitions, defined as micro-purchases under $15,000. The candidate in this role will be trained using a structured development plan focused on the operational and administrative functions needed for this position.
You will join a team responsible for the complete administration of the GPC program. Your core duties will involve the lifecycle management of approximately 600 cardholders and approving official accounts, which includes data input, records maintenance, and generating reports to ensure strict regulatory compliance. A primary function will be acting as a liaison between the agency, the bank, and program stakeholders/cardholders, where you will guide cardholders on authorized acquisition methods and ensure all procurement actions comply with applicable laws, regulations, and policies. You will also conduct systematic surveillance and formal audits to detect and report any potential fraud, waste, or misuse. This position is designed to build your expertise in acquisition and administration, providing a clear path to becoming a subject matter expert who offers consultative support to leadership and program users.
Conditions of employment
1. You will be required to handle and safeguard sensitive information in accordance with applicable US and UK laws, rules and regulations. This position may also be coded as mission essential.
2. Official duties or training may require travel, including by military or civilian aircraft, to the US or other countries.
3. You will be required to complete a 6-month probationary period.

5. You must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
6. You will handle and safeguard sensitive material in accordance with security regulations to prevent compromise and must meet Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) requirements.
