Working Hours: Alternating early and late shifts, covering 6:30am – 6:00pm

Job Description

We are currently recruiting for an experienced and qualified HGV Mechanic to join a busy local authority fleet maintenance team in the Bromsgrove and Redditch area.

The successful candidate will be responsible for servicing, maintaining, inspecting and repairing a range of heavy goods vehicles and fleet equipment, ensuring all vehicles are maintained to the highest safety and operational standards.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced HGV Mechanic to work within a professional workshop environment, supporting essential public services.

Key Duties

- Carrying out scheduled servicing, maintenance and repairs on HGVs and commercial vehicles.

- Conducting vehicle inspections, examinations and safety checks.

- Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults.

- Preparing vehicles for MOT inspections and ensuring roadworthiness.

- Ensuring compliance with DVSA regulations and operator licensing requirements.

- Maintaining accurate servicing, inspection and repair records.

- Identifying defects and completing necessary repairs efficiently.

- Working collaboratively with other technicians to maintain fleet availability.

- Following workshop health and safety procedures.

- Supporting the maintenance of vehicles used across council services.
