About

We are delighted to offer a rewarding opportunity within Wexham Park Critical Care, ideal for a Band 5 Staff Nurse seeking to grow clinically and professionally within a supportive and dynamic team. Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust operates across three hospital sites in Frimley, Ascot and Slough, offering wide-ranging clinical exposure and development opportunities.

Wexham Park Critical Care Unit is a 16-bedded mixed ITU/HDU (Level 3 and Level 2) unit, delivering care across a wide range of medical and surgical specialties. This includes post-operative and emergency care, as well as post–primary coronary intervention patients. The unit also provides advanced therapies such as intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP) support and haemofiltration, ensuring a varied and challenging clinical environment.

We place a strong emphasis on education and professional development. Our comprehensive education programmes—supported by a dedicated Practice Education Team—equip staff at all levels with the essential knowledge and skills needed to thrive in critical care.

This is a permanent opportunity, ideal for someone looking to gain valuable experience and make a meaningful impact within a supportive and dynamic team.

Under the supervision of the Nurse in Charge, the post holder will be responsible for delivering safe, effective and evidence-based nursing care to critically ill patients across Levels 1–3.

The role involves monitoring, assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating individualised patient care, working in partnership with patients, their families and the wider multidisciplinary team.

The post holder will safely and competently manage complex monitoring equipment, intravenous infusions and ventilatory support systems, ensuring high standards of clinical practice are maintained at all times.

As an integral member of the critical care team, the post holder will be accountable for the organisation, coordination and delivery of nursing care for patients allocated to them, contributing to the overall effectiveness and quality of care within the unit.

Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust provides NHS hospital services for around 900,000 people across Berkshire, Hampshire, Surrey and south Buckinghamshire.
