So…. What is this role exactly?

We have an exciting opportunity to recruit a Project Officer at Lock 20 – supported accommodation for young people aged 16-25.

The role is based at Lock 20 in Wigan Town Centre . Lock 20 is our new innovative and sector leading development. The facility sits right alongside the Leeds and Liverpool Canal. At Lock 20 we take an asset-based approach, called Advantaged Thinking, in all the work we do; encouraging young people experiencing homelessness to aim high, dream big and fulfil their ambitions.

We want to recruit as Project Officer as passionate about this as us.

What will my working week look like?

Project Officers work on a 4 week rolling rota - Week A: 8am-4pm, Week B: 10am-6pm, Week C: 11am -7pm, Week D: 12pm-8pm and are part of a multidisciplinary team on site, supporting the young people who can live with us for a maximum of 2 years. The role includes some element of lone working, but only for short periods of time.

Lock 20 was designed to promote collaborative working with colleagues, customers and partner agencies. Every day is different; you could be based in our open space having a conversation with young people, delivering 1-2-1 support sessions on life skills, reviewing an action plan, supporting a young person to an appointment, contributing to a multi-agency meeting or facilitating a group activity as part of our learning programme.

What will I be responsible for doing?

First and foremost, you will be providing key worker support to our young people. You will play a key role in supporting residents to help them achieve their goals, develop independent living and life skills and build excellent relationships with residents, colleagues and professionals from external agencies.

One of the great things about this role is being able to bring your own personality. Our young people come from a wide range of backgrounds and we try to mirror that in our staff team. You have an opportunity to encourage, support and inspire young people to reach their aspirations.

Ideally you will be

  • Innovative and creative in your ways of working
