Job description

About

Located in Lanark, South Lanarkshire, our beautiful care home provides nursing and dementia care for 45 residents.

Love cooking? Looking for better working hours and an opportunity to develop your skills?

At Crosslaw House Care Home, we are looking for someone who enjoys preparing good food and wants to make a real difference to people's lives.

Whether you are an experienced Cook looking for a better work life balance or have some kitchen experience and are ready to take the next step, we would love to hear from you.

You do not need previous care home experience. We can provide training and support to help you develop your skills and grow into the role.

Cook Contract

  •  £13.45 per hour
  •  £500 Welcome Bonus, payable upon successful completion of your probationary period
  •  Full time and part time opportunities
  •  Day shifts with no late evenings or split shifts
  •  Paid PVG, pension and uniform provided
  •  5.6 weeks annual leave based on a full time contract
  •  Ongoing training and development opportunities

Why Join Us?

Enjoy a cooking role without the late finishes and split shifts often associated with hospitality.

You will be part of a friendly, supportive team where your cooking makes a genuine difference to residents' everyday lives.

Whether you are bringing years of cooking experience or looking to build on your existing kitchen skills, we will provide the guidance, training and support to help you succeed.

Role Overview

As Cook, you will play an important role in preparing fresh, nutritious meals that bring comfort, enjoyment and a sense of home to our residents.

You will prepare and serve a variety of dishes, taking account of individual dietary requirements and preferences, while helping to make every mealtime an enjoyable experience.

You will also support menu planning, maintain high standards of food hygiene and safety, and contribute to the smooth running of the kitchen.

With training and guidance available, this is an excellent opportunity to build your confidence, develop your cooking skills and take on more responsibility within a supportive environment.

What We Are Looking For

  •  Some previous experience working in a kitchen, catering or food preparation environment
  •  A genuine interest in cooking and preparing good quality meals
  •  Basic knowledge of food hygiene and safe food preparation
  •  Willingness to learn, develop new skills and take on responsibility
  •  Good organisational and communication skills
  •  A positive, reliable attitude and the ability to work independently and as part of a team

Previous experience as a Cook is welcome but not essential. We are equally interested in candidates with practical kitchen experience who are ready to develop their skills with training and support.
