The Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Apprentice Computing Lecturer to join our Apprenticeship Team. In this rewarding role, you will work closely with apprentices, employers and college colleagues to deliver high-quality teaching, coaching and support across Computing apprenticeship programmes.
You will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging learning sessions, conducting progress reviews, assessing apprentice work and providing individualised support to help learners achieve their qualifications and apprenticeship standards. Working with employers, you will ensure apprentices develop the technical knowledge, skills and behaviours required to succeed in the workplace whilst meeting programme and funding requirements.
The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting learner recruitment, retention and achievement, contributing to the continued success and growth of the College’s apprenticeship provision.
What are we looking for?
You will be suitably qualified within a Computing or Information Technology discipline and have current industry knowledge across areas such as hardware, software, networking, infrastructure and/or software development.
You will have experience of teaching, training, coaching or mentoring learners, ideally within an apprenticeship, further education or workplace setting. Practical experience in IT support, infrastructure, networking or software development is essential, enabling you to bring real-world examples and expertise into the learning environment.
Knowledge of virtualisation technologies, particularly Proxmox Hypervisor or equivalent platforms, would be advantageous. You will also be confident using a range of digital systems and applications, including Microsoft Office and e-portfolio platforms such as OneFile or Smart Assessor.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent organisational and communication skills, with the ability to manage a varied caseload, meet deadlines and maintain accurate learner records. Above all, you will be passionate about supporting apprentices to achieve their full potential, adapting your approach to meet individual learning needs and inspiring learners to succeed within the Computing sector.
