Job description:

A kind, caring, positive, reliable, and active Self-Employed Female Personal Assistant is required to work collaboratively with an existing PA in order to support a lovely, friendly older lady with a complex range of progressing health needs, including COPD, diabetes, asthma, lymphedema and osteoarthritis. As such she requires intensive support around personal care, including the monitoring of and managing hygiene care around a suprapubic catheter site. This lady has a fantastic sense of humour and loves a chat, so you must be sociable and enjoy a good conversation!

The primary purpose of the role is to provide full evening support to this lady from around 6.00 to 7.30pm each day, including:

undertaking evening meal preparation

fully supporting the client with all personal care tasks including management of suprapubic catheter care

The role also includes the need to accompany the client to medical appointments, as these are increasing in number, so a level of flexibility is required to cover these

Provide holiday cover for the other PA by mutual arrangement

Assistance with maintaining the cleanliness of the home, some light domestic tasks as required

Provide companionship and conversation in a calm, friendly and reassuring manner

Ensure the client can safely mobilise around her home.

The intention is that you will get to know the client and her existing PA over time, and all work collaboratively to meet her needs going forwards, so there may be some negotiation around shift cover between PA’s. During holiday cover your role may increase to cover some extra responsibilities held by the other PA, including medication support including insulin care, and to support the client out in the community to access social events and groups she enjoys.

You will need to hold a clean driving licence with business cover and be aged 25 and over in order to drive the client’s Motability vehicle.

If you are kind, patient and dependable with good communication skills and a calm and reassuring manner and great sense of humour (really essential), and confident and experienced in supporting someone with increasingly complex health care needs, then please apply.
