Why This Role?
We are looking for a friendly, enthusiastic and customer-focused Reception & Retail Assistant to join our team and help deliver an exceptional experience for guests and visitors.
This is a varied and exciting role where no two days are the same! From welcoming guests and managing bookings to assisting customers in our retail and fishing tackle shop, you will play an important part in the day-to-day running of the resort.
We're looking for someone who enjoys meeting people, has excellent communication skills and takes pride in delivering outstanding customer service.
Previous experience or knowledge of fishing would be particularly advantageous, as you will be assisting guests with fishing enquiries, bookings and purchases from our tackle shop.
Important – Please Read

Applicants must have access to their own reliable transport (car, motorbike, etc.) to travel to and from work. This is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide a warm, friendly and professional welcome to all guests and visitors.
- Assist with guest check-ins and check-outs, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience.
- Handle telephone calls, emails and general enquiries in a helpful and professional manner.
- Process accommodation, dining, fishing, golf and activity bookings using the resort's reservation systems.
- Assist customers in the retail and fishing tackle shop, providing product information and recommendations where appropriate.
- Support guests with fishing enquiries, including information on fishing facilities, permits, equipment and bookings.
- Process retail transactions, handle cash and operate till and payment systems accurately.
- Assist with stock replenishment, merchandising, pricing and maintaining attractive retail displays.
- Promote resort facilities, activities and special offers, identifying opportunities to enhance the guest experience.
- Respond to guest requests and feedback, resolving straightforward enquiries and escalating concerns when necessary.
- Work closely with colleagues across reception, retail, sports, housekeeping and other resort departments.
- Maintain a clean, tidy and welcoming reception and retail environment.
- Complete general administrative duties and maintain accurate booking and customer records.
What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience in a customer-facing role, ideally within hospitality, reception, retail or leisure.
- Knowledge or experience of fishing is preferred, particularly an understanding of fishing equipment, tackle and associated products.
- A friendly, approachable and professional manner with a genuine passion for customer service.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Confidence using computers, booking systems and tills, or a willingness to learn.
- A proactive and flexible approach, with the ability to manage a variety of tasks.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- A positive attitude and willingness to support colleagues across different areas of the resort.
- Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends and bank holidays, as required.
You don't need to be an expert in fishing to apply! However, an interest in fishing and a willingness to develop your knowledge of fishing products and activities would be a real advantage.
What We Offer
• Staff meals during shifts
• ☕ Free tea, coffee, and cordials while on shift
• Staff discounts across the restaurant, golf course, lodges, shop & events
