About the role

Are you a senior, commercially minded Highways leader ready to take full ownership of performance, growth, and service excellence?

Due to an internal promotion the rare opportunity has arisen to step into a high impact leadership role at Project Centre, where you’ll shape strategy, win major work, and lead multidisciplinary technical teams delivering industry leading highway design and consultancy services across a broad geographic region, implementing change and driving the continued growth of the business.

What you will be doing:

Leading multiple technical teams and senior managers to deliver high quality highways, asset management and construction design services.

Collaborate with stakeholders at all levels, including internal and external clients, operational staff, project teams, or external stakeholders.

Winning new business and growing key accounts to drive regional and national success.

Oversee technical input into bid proposals, defining the delivery strategy and working with cross functional teams to prepare high quality, compliant, competitive submissions.

Setting the strategic direction for the Highways discipline, alongside senior leadership.

Ensuring outstanding financial performance, including revenue growth, margins, WIP control, and account management targets.

Driving technical excellence, best practice, and governance across complex, business critical projects, maintaining excellent relationships with the Institution of Civil Engineers, Chartered Institute of Highways and Transportation, Department for Transport, National Highways and relevant institutions.

What we are looking for:

A degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.

Extensive experience in senior technical highway roles, including significant leadership of complex, high risk, cross disciplinary projects and programmes.

Overseeing the technical preparation, review and checking of deliverables.

Experience working in/with local authorities.

Experience working with private developers and alongside developers on behalf of authorities.

Experience of construction sites and delivering works on site

Expert knowledge of current design codes and standards as well as industry best practices, including CDM Regulations.

A proven track record of:

Leading and inspiring large, multidisciplinary teams

Delivering complex, high value programmes both on and off site

Operating at senior leadership level

Winning work and growing client accounts

Managing significant budgets and financial performance

Innovation and strategic thinking

The confidence to influence, negotiate, and build lasting partnerships and teams.

Consultancy background desirable but not mandatory.

What you will get in return:

25 days annual leave days plus bank holidays

Hybrid working

Holiday purchase scheme – buy up to 5 additional days each year

Healthcare cash plan

Life Assurance

A wide range of flexible staff benefits, from high-street discounts to wellbeing and lifestyle perks
